How It Works
The Song
Once you have signed up, you become an offical Band Member and you'll be able to send us music/sound files – details on how to do this will be in the email we send you when you sign up.
If you have musical ability and can send us something tuneful, all the better; however, if you just want to shout into a microphone - that’s fine too.
What will we do with all the contributions? Well, we have a music producer locked in a studio and we're not going to release him until he's pieced together your sonic offerings and created the People’s Song. As we receive sound files, we will begin to post rough drafts of the song on our blog for Band Members to hear and comment on to further shape the final output.
If you want to simply sign up, but not contribute to the People’s Song, then fair enough. Think of yourself as being like the two out of East 17 who weren't Tony Mortimer or Brian Harvey - or maybe Howard and Jason from Take That. And there's nothing wrong with that - you're still a fully fledged band member.
Buying the Single
Once our People's Band thermometer reaches the 15,000 mark, we will produce a final version for release as a single, which we will then make available for download on a number of online music stores.
Then we'll send the People's Band Alert - a group email to all Band Members instructing them to buy the single (it will only be 70p) from a variety of online music stores. As downloads from certain online music stores count toward the Official Top 40, if we all buy the single in the same week, it will fly into the Top 40 gifting us all the joy of a bona fide musical hit.
Any profits made through the sale of the single will go to charity. The charity will be chosen by an online poll that all Band Members can vote on.
