Last year we tried to get the Hoff to No.1... This time we're trying to get YOU there!

Would you like to have a top 40 hit? It'd be something to tell the grandchildren, eh? Well now you can, and you don't have to be sneered at by a pantomime villain on Pop Factor to do it. Nor do you need to start smoking crack in an East End squat, pretending you're a punk rocker when actually you're a middle class lad from the Home Counties.

Because we're forming a People's Band, which will release a People's Song - and anyone can become a band member. All you need to do is sign-up to be in the band below, then wait a bit (and help us make the song, if you fancy)... Then when the time comes, we all buy our single at the same time and voila - we're all top 40 stars.

Here's how to become a top 40 popstar:

  1. Sign up above to become a member of the People's Band.
  2. You are then a Band Member and can contribute music/sound files/lyrics to the People’s Band song if you’d like (we'll give you details about how to do this when you're signed up). We'll then cobble together the contributions we receive from the band members into one song – The People’s Song.
  3. Wait a bit (and tell your friends about the Band)... when we have 15,000 people signed up, we'll send an email alert tipping you the wink that it's time to buy the People's Song. All Band Members purchase the single in the same week and voila - we're in the top 40 (any profits from the sale of the single will go a charity decided by the Band Members)
  4. Appear on CD: UK , play Wembley Arena, live the rock 'n' roll dream. Possibly.
